you have rear ROTORS or DRUMS

rotors, you'll get rust deposits on the surfaces...

drums, well you'll need a technician to pull them off and inspect the brake shoes

ahh yes...

the drum shoes for the parking brake assembly inside the rotor hat... they have to be removed to be checked or you can adjust them if they're binding

It's hard to say what it

It's hard to say what it could be. I just changed the pads all the way around on our 2008 at 41k+ miles. Very easy job on these vans. Hawk HPS on the front and Hawk ceramic on the back. I wanted to see which pads would wear better as the fronts and rears seem to wear very close to the same over time. Our 2004 Quest did not make it past 20k before i had to change pads AND rotors all the way around. Rotors are still in great shape on the 2008.
Before I changed the pads, sometimes when it was wet out my rears would groan backing down the driveway when I applied the brakes. I have not had the chance to see if the new pads make the same noise.
Let us know Jenifer what you find out. Hopefully just a weird vibration.
