1999 Villager/Quest dome lights come on randomly, draining battery

I have a 99 villager and noticed that the interior lights will randomly turn on and off while the engine is not running and the doors are unlocked, which eventually causes the battery to go dead after a day or so. I removed the door sensors from the doors and it still happens. Would it be something like faulty wiring in the dome switch or elsewhere? When the doors are locked, it's not a problem.
