replacing PAX tires on 2006 Quest

Ok, like most everyone else I'm fed up with the PAX tires. I plan on changing over to regular wheels and tires but wondered what those of you that have already done this are doing for a spare? If you have one where are you keeping it? We were told that the compartment where the spare goes is missing on PAX equiped Quests. I haven't checked yet but I'm going to as I have been lied to before by my dealer. Comments welcome.

Replacing PAX Tires on a 2006 Quest

I just replaced the tires and rims on my 2007 Quest with the PAX system. I went to the Tire Rack and got a set of 17 inch rims with Yokohama tires. Mounted and balanced with tire pressure monitor sensors it cost me $1,143. I went on to Craigslist and got a brand new spare form someone parting out a Quest for $30. If you lift up the compartment where the spare is supposed to go, the organizer that is in the spare tire well pops right out. Spare goes right in. All that is left for me to do is go to Nisaan and get my tire pressure monitor light reset. Oh, when you order tires online, do not tell them you are replacing a PAX system. They will not even talk to you. Tell them you have a Quest with 17 inch rims.

Replace PAX tires on 2007 Quest

Hi,
Could anyone let me know if there are any dealers or tire shops that can de-pax my 07 quest in northern VA area? Also, if I buy a spare, is there any provision in the car to keep it? Any help is appreciated. Also, once the tPMS is reset by the dealers, will it work normally for the regular tires?

Thanks
Param

Update

I got rid of my Pax tires. I was looking at tirerack to get a good wheel & tire packages. But went to Merchants Tire & Auto in Vienna, VA. It is the closest place to my work. The technician there Carols assured me they have removed the PAX wheels on Hondas before. Currently on their website deals are going on for X-mas and I took 4 17inch Maxxim Allegro wheels for the price of 2, 4
YOKOHAMA Avid TRZ tires for the price of 3, plus tire rotation and mounting and lug nuts kits etc. After the discounts and taxes, the price came to $1025.00. I dont want to have new TPMS sensors as my tires are almost bald and I know Michelin may offer $30 per each tire, that too if I buy only the PAX ones. Since they didn't have the PAX machine to remove the tires properly, they cut the tires from PAX wheels, got the sensors out, removed the pax wheels and installed the new rims and tires. My car immediately recognized the new tires and the TPMS was working and saved me a trip to go to dealer to reset it. I have all the 4 PAX wheels and lugnuts and Nissan caps, if anyone is interested, I want to sell them. I need to get a Spare tire and I am working on it. The new rims look good on the car and so far no issues with my car. I really suggest anyone who wants to get this done now in DC/MD/VA area, go to the Merchants at Vienna location and ask for Carlos. He is knowledgeable and got my work done nicely. If you need more info, I am happy to provide. My email address is pkompella@gmail.com. I am happy that finally I got rid of my PAX (HEAVY) wheels and the time is very right. I have 20K miles on my car, all my tires are bald and instead of replacing with PAX tires for $1400, I got the new rims and tires for $1000. I don't know how much I need to spend for spare, but still the total will be less than 1400.

Yeah, believe it or not we

Yeah, believe it or not we had never looked where the spare goes. I looked in the floor after posting this and found the organizer and removed it. I'm having no luck with finding a spare as of yet. I ended up with 4 17 inch wheels and Michelin tires mounted balanced new sensors and all to the house for $1,163.00. Be sure and come up with some way to secure your spare in the storage hole. Wouldn't want that thing to come out and start flying around in a wreck. Thanks for the reply.

I also have a 2006 quest and want to replace these tires. What size tire did you replace them with?
