Hot Air with fans set to "cold air"
Quest 2005 with 92,000miles. Weather is just starting to warm up and I have noticed that when I turn the fans (fan only, not A/C) and set it to "blue" (coldest setting) the air coming in, is much, much warmer than the air outside. This is VERY annoying because basically I have to turn the A/C on or open all windows anytime the outside temperature goes above 65 degrees. I miss my 96 Quest so much! ;(
Hot air with AC set to cold
2005 Quest with 97000 miles. I am facing the same issue when the outside temperature is above 102 degrees. I took it to a mechanic while I was visiting Houston. He said it could be the expansion valve. Parts cost is approximately $40 but labor is $600. I did not get it done because he needed the car for a day. May be I am wrong but I noticed that it occurs when driving on Highways (above 60MPH).I was reviewing a few articles regarding AC. Most of them mentioned that the cause could be the expansion valve. The funny part is that I could not find the part on the internet. There is expansion valve for the rear AC but not the front. I took it to my local mechanic. Unfortunately, the AC did not misbehave even though the outside temperature was 103. Did anyone face this issue? Was it resolved?
AC just quit on 2007 Quest S
My AC just quit and I was getting a FSSSSSS sound for a while. Eventually even that stopped after a few days. Doesn't blow any cold air whatsoever. Does anyone know if this is a freon issue or a belt issue or what?
thanks...
Just had the same thing on our 04
Turned out to be a leak in the condenser. Cost $450 to replace and recharge.
Recently purchased an '04 Quest SE and we like it....
Hey there, we recently purchased an '04 SE and we like it very much to spite that it seems it was designed on another planet. :o) We drove it from San Antonio TX to Los Angeles and back recently. Not a single problem to spite stopping in Laughlin where the temps were well over 120 degrees! The car ran like a top and fuel mileage was very acceptable for such a large vehicle.
I have two problems that I inherited with the purchase. The AC's work fairly well, but the two AC vents in the center of the panel blow air out at two difference temperatures. The left center one blows about 20 degrees warmer than the right center vent. My gut feeling is that some vacuum operated door is not closing or opening all the way and it is allowing warm air to mix with the cold. CAN ANYONE VERIFY MY SUSPICIONS, or would it be something else?
The other problem is two of the rear skyroof shades won't retract. They just hang there on the hook and if we want to open them, they just hang down. Nissan wants over $200 per shade plus labor. I tried to remove the ceiling panel trim that frames the skyroofs, removed all screws but I can't seem to get the trim piece to come off. It feels like I might break it if I pull too hard. ANY IDEAS?
As in most '04's, the paint on the center console just below the radio wore off. Nissan really screwed up on that type of finish, but I fixed it by purchasing a polished aluminum set of trim pieces that hid the missing paint and really beautified other areas where those trim pieces went. They have all kinds of finishes to choose from on ebay. Cost was just over $100.00 and well worth it.
One more question: Is it mandatory to use Nissan trans fluid when I want to change the tranny fluid, or is there an acceptable alternative that won't eat my transmission? I'd hate to pay to have that six speed tranny rebuilt.
Thanks!

AC
I just had both condenser fans replaced. The fans would turn but very slowly. Our AC would work fine while going down the road but as soon as you come to a stop the AC would start blowing hot air. You should be able to inspect this yourself to see if both fans are operating at the same speed.

Weird
This is going to sound weird but do your belts make a squeeling or whining noise when the a/c is turned on? if it does have your belts replaced. i took my car to a nissan dealership and like you it was blowing hot air but belts where squeeling so the tech says man I went through my checks from top to bottom with your a/c I dont know whats wrong with it...I went to a side mechanic and he goes lets try the belts if it doesnt work I wont charge you and it's been a cool summmer for my family I can say! YEAAAAA!
Our AC just quit
I have a 2004, and the AC just quit today, but I get a Fffssssssss.... sound when I turn it on.
Now all it does is blows hot. :(
It made a couple fissss sounds yesterday, and the day before.
I'm having it checked out asap, I'll post our findings.
My problem with my van ( Heat blow cold Air not hot )
I think the squeaking noise or whining noise come out from a Loose Pulley. Sometime your AC pulley is bad too that make a squeaking noise. Can anyone help solving my van problem?
My problem is heater doesn't work. The temperature gauge doesn't rise above the Normal temperature. Always stay cold and blew cold air in winter when engine is hot. Please help!!! Thanks ahead....
