Door Panel Removal

Cooldaddycars's picture

I have a 2006 Quest that I am going to try and tint the front windows. I purchased a computer cut tint on Ebay and they tell me that all I need to do is remove the door panels (so that the tint will go below the window seal) and put on the tint according to normal procedures. I don't want to break anything and was hoping someone might know how to remove the panels.
Thanks!

Door removal

I have removed the driver door panel a few times for my 04 . There is a screw down in the hand pull area and one behind the door open pull nob. You have to pop out the little plastic covers first to get at them. Phillips head #2 works fine. Next I just grab the plastic panel at the bottom corner and give it a good tug and it should start popping off. Work your way around the bottom and sides popping all the plastic clips out. The top slides down into the window cavity a little to hold it in place so once all the clips are loose you should be able to give it a little tug strait up and it will come off. There are 3 diff wires and 2 door cables, but if all you need to do is get it out of the way enough to put on the tint just let it gently hang down by the wires/cables and install the tint. All of the above is best/comfortably done while sitting on a five gallon bucket .

hope this helps

Door Panel

To remove the door panel you should invest in a panel removal tool, you can get at your local auto shop store. This will allow you to pop off the panel without pulling that plastic push thingies through the panel. However like the previous comment said. Have it done at a Tint Shop. I just got a quote for $80.00 to tint my front doors. Well worth the hassle to pay the $80.00 and not spend the 2+ hours trying to remove the panels and tint the windows myself. I have tinted my windows on previous cars I have owned but I am older now and have less time to full with them.

My 2 cents worth.

Don't do it

I had my windows professionally tinted. They didn't have to take off the door panel. They used an elongated squeegee device to push the tint down below the window seal. The next time you roll your windows up & down, the seal will pop back up. They did this for the Quest and 3 other cars I've had them do, and it's held up fine.
