Rear Electric Hatch Lift Not Working

avanti5010's picture

I have an 05 Quest in which the rear hatch doesn't open with keyfob or interior button. It is intermittent, so guess what? It didn't malfunction at dealer yesterday.
Anybody else having similar problem?

same here

We had this problem too. Apparently when assembled, they didn't put a locking nut on the connecting rod between the motor and rod. If it comes off, the door will not raise. Our dealer fixed this for free. I think there is a TSB for this.

Rear Electric Hatch Lift Not Working

My 05 had the same problem, including it was intermittent. The dealer had to replace the rear hatch motor assembly. I assume the open/close switches are part of that assembly since I could push or pull on the hatch and the motor would then activate. It was under warranty, but the sheet I got showed they charged Nissan $635 for the work.

electric tailgate

My electric tailgate warning noise started going off all of the time on my 2004
Quest. Also, the eletric function worked on and off. Sometime the handle
doesn't even work so I have to climb in and pull the release. I
opened up the panel on the door and disconnected the noise maker but the
other problem still exists. Anyone solve their problems? Think it's
the motor?

Electric tailgate

Same thing happening with mine. Doesn't seem to be a problem with the motor, because it works fine when it works. Intermittent. I have 13 mos and 19K miles. Is this item still under warranty?

rear hatch motor

my 04 hatch recently quit. dealer wants 937C$ for the motor and 243 C$ for the labour. i can hear the motor running but the hatch does not open or close. seems like a premature failure to me. i sure don't think its worth $1180 dollars to repair !

dealer wanted to install new tailgate motor- NOT NEEDED

recently went to the dealer with my non working rear tailgate and despite me telling the dealer i could hear the motor running and the rod that closed the tailgate seemed loose the dealer insisted i needed to spend $1180 to fix it. so i brought the vehicle home and removed the interior panel covering the motor. i found that the motor ran fine and the rod that closes the tailgate was not attached to the motor. i put the bolt back in and now it works perfectly. i hope nissan realizes dealers like this ruin the reputation of their products !
