Just purchased an 02 Quest, questions

Do I need to change the filter, this is a filter I know, but I believe its not necessary to change it. The parts computer noted that some transmission disassembly was needed. My owners manual say nothing about a replacing the filter, just to change the fluid.

Also, does anyone know what kind of speaker is in the rear, and how to get to it, it looks like the whole panel needs to come off. Good 130W radio with 6 disc changer, but the speaker makes a bad rattling sound, sounds like crap, even with the fader on the front it still rattles.

I had a Quest briefly in 05 I think, and there was a forum I was a part of, but I can't find it now.

Also

I remember hearing back then a way to get DTCs from the computer by jumping two wires under the hood, has anyone heard anything like that? I know this is OBDII but there was this other way supposedly.

BTW I have a subscript to All-data for the 02 Quest, if anyone needs anything, I can save from there and post it here. The pics and diagrams are savable and printable.

RE: no one?

If you are looking for an answer with regard to the OBDII codes, you need a scanner. I've never heard of reading the codes as you described. I purchased a OBDII scanner from Harbor Freight last year for $35. Basic model but it allows you to read and erase the codes.

Regarding the filter, what filter are you talking about? air filter? cabin filter? oil filter? transmission filter?

Transmission filter,

Sorry tranny filter. Never mind though its done, the filter is right there after you remove the pan, don't understand why it said that.
About the codes, yes I read something about that on a forum yrs ago, I don't see that forum anymore.

here's the specific service manual for your vehicle...

you can access transmission codes w/out a tool if you read it after downloading the pdf files...

basically a combo of a few pushes of the O/D button w/ key on-off and depressing the gas pedal will start the diagnostic mode of the o/d light flashing to show you what circuit/sensor to look at next...
