Replacing Rear Windshield Wiper Assembly

dologiles's picture

Ok, so after reading some of the posts I think I just got ripped off by the dealer because they told me I had to buy the whole assembly in order to replace the rear windshield wiper so I bought it.

So, I can get the screw off of the rear windshield wiper but I can not figure out how to get the assembly detached from the motor/bolt. I wonder if there is some type of snap ring or something. I tried pulling on it but got nervous and didn't want to break it.

Has anyone had any experience with doing this, if so please advise.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re:

The rear windshield wiper should be checked and replaced every six months if it shows any signs of wear or deterioration. Typically, the blades will chip, crack or begin to peel over the winter months if you live in an area that gets a lot of harsh weather, such as ice and snow. Purchase replacement wipers from an auto parts store or directly from a Honda dealership. The Pilot's rear wiper is a 14-inch blade.

Get a replacement wiper from an automotive store

You can try to get a replacement wiper (the one with the rubber only and no metal arm attached) from any automotive store, the key thing is to make sure you can fit the rubber in the rail on the wiper arm on the van. If you can get the same length as the original, it will be perfect; if not, you should be able to cut the rubber to fit your original length with a cutter or a pair of scissor. Shouldn't cost more than a few bucks.

Rear winshield wiper

Hello,

Yes I just replaced my wiper & the dealer tried to sell me the whole assembly. I asked the parts flunky to get me a wiper from the back that was the same size (make sure you compare them) and this wiper was not exactly the same configuration but with the lengh being the same I was able to make it work fine($ 13.00 out the door).
