putting new H/U in 2001

hey yall i need to put a new head unit it my quest, sorry if there is already a thread on here about this, but can anybody tell me how its done? i have done a few engine swaps and other work on many vehicles including electronics but id just like to know what im getting myself in to before i go buy the radio and everything.
